Rest Days: Fidenza — July 3-4, 2022

4 days + 98 kms + 35oC = rest days!

Fidenza was bombed during WWII, but still has some medieval buildings and a lot of charm.

The Fidenza Duomo has many Romanesque features including ornate sculptures.

Fidenza Duomo.

A recurring theme in the Duomo was beheaded martyrs.  The crypt contained the reassembled bones of a martyr, with head in place.

Remains of the medieval fortifications.

Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi:  it seemed deserted until 7:00pm.

Fully revived and ready to take on the Apennines.

Unfortunately a rest day could not revive my Italian hat.  It took three weeks of abuse to transform it from Siena Suave to Clem Kadiddlehopper!  Laurel said that I looked like a Willie Nelson-inspired scarecrow!  RIP my friend.

  1. You may need to buy another Italian hat before you come home although we could always use a new Willie Nelson.

  2. Your hat just proves that you can’t spell chic without hic!
