25 km — 26oC and sunny/intermittent clouds/windy — We met 32 more pilgrims on their way to Rome.

Just. Beautiful. Scenery.
19 kms, from Ostello Sigerico just outside Gambassi Terme to near San Miniato; along winding country dirt roads and trails; many times atop a high ridge; views that went on forever in every direction; looking across vineyards, olive groves, grain fields, farms, forests, hills, valleys; the Apennine Mountains now looming blue on the far horizon. Bliss.
Then the final 6 kms to San Miniato are a different story: pavement with no shoulder and little space beside; a couple of hills to go up; a bar/cafe that takes eons to reach; aching feet. Not bliss. But at least the traffic was light, the wind cooled us a bit, and we eventually reached the bar and sat in the shade with a cold drink before our final push into town and arrival at our hostel (“Convento San Francesco”).
San Miniato is a scenic hill-top town; Jim explored it while I stayed in and soaked my feet.
